Phalaenopsis Orchids have become immensely popular over the past few years and has been dominating the world in orchid market. Phalaenopsis orchids have a significant advantage over other flowering plants, as they have exotic shape and colours and they are long lasting (As much as 2 – 3 months on the plant). It is also known as moth orchid because the long arching sprays of flowers are thought to resemble a flight of pale moths in moonlight earning. Phalaenopsis has grown in its popularity in recent years as it is available in large number of varieties owing to the improvement in agricultural techniques.

Phalaenopsis have a different look as it blooms open along a long flower spike that is sometimes two feet in length. They do not have fragrance and may produce up to 15 or more flowers per spike. Very soon India would be able to meet most of its requirement of the exotic flowers which would reduce the import to meet the demand.
